Two wrestlers forehead to forehead, in orange and khaki tones, in a landscape of green and yellow bands. The moment when forces balance and nothing moves yet: Louis Barthélemy fixes it in appliqué, where each mass of colour is a West African bazin cut, laid and hand-embroidered onto cotton canvas by the master craftsmen of khayamiya in Cairo. The landscape, reduced to bands, holds the two bodies like an arena.
